DESCRIPTION:Workshop #1: Presented by Brooke Hyden\, MSW\, LCSW\n\nMindfulness and Self-Compassion: Sustainable Self-Care Practices for Helping Professionals: This workshop will provide participants with an overview of two strategies\, mindfulness and self-compassion that can be used as self-care strategies. Both of these skills have been well researched and proven to decrease stress\, build emotional resilience and promote overall wellbeing. This class will be primarily experiential as the instructor will be guiding participants through numerous mindfulness meditations and self-compassion exercises. Participants will also be given practical tools for integrating mindfulness and self-compassion based practices into their daily routine.\n\nBrooke Hyden\, MSW\, LCSW currently works as a hospice social worker. She also has many years of experience providing trauma informed assessment and treatment to children and families exposed to violence. Brooke is also a Mindfulness Instructor and in 2015 completed a year-long Mindfulness Instructor Training Program through the University of Illinois Graduate Psychology Program.
