SUMMARY:Communicate with Diplomacy and Tact - Lunch & Learn
DESCRIPTION:We have all been awed by someone who seems to know what to say and how to say it in any situation. These people know how to communicate with diplomacy\, tact and confidence. \n\n\n\nJoin Decatur Emerging Leaders for this Dale Carnegie seminar that gives participants the opportunity to practice dealing with trying situations in a confident and diplomatic way. They will learn to speak honestly and tactfully\, give and receive constructive feedback\, and use mediation skills to help others find common ground when holding opposing viewpoints.\n\n\n\nResearch conducted by Mike Poskey at ZERORISK HR indicates that one of five emotional intelligence competencies that successful leaders employ is called "social skills and political correctness." This competency is important in all areas of life. \n\n\n\nThe ability to communicate with diplomacy and tact improves your leadership skills by helping you manage change\, negotiate and compromise\, resolve conflicts\, gain consensus and collaboration\, and create a cohesive team.\n\n\n\nAt the completion of this module\, participants will be able to:\n\n	Respond to difficult situations in a confident\, diplomatic\, and tactful way\n	Give and receive feedback without eliciting negative emotions\n	Apply mediation techniques to find common ground among opposing viewpoints\n\n\n\n\nOur speaker\, Steve Grant\, is a Senior Business Development Consultant for Dale Carnegie Training of Greater Illinois. \n\n \n\nSince 1980 Mr. Grant has trained more than 3\,000 individuals from over 500 companies throughout the Midwest. Mr. Grant has spoken to civic and professional groups throughout the country on topics ranging from high-performance living to building effective work teams.\n\n \n\nMr. Grant is the past recipient of the distinguished President's Cup\, which is awarded by Dale Carnegie & Associates\, Inc. for quality of instruction\, customer satisfaction\, and marketing excellence.\n\n\n\nAdvance Registration is Required by Monday\, February 5. Cost is $35\; dues-paying members of Decatur Emerging Leaders received a reduced rate of $25.\n\n\n\nDoors open at 11:15 a.m. and a buffet lunch will be served promptly at 11:30 a.m. with the program starting shortly after.
