The day encourages people to shop at small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The single day has grown into a powerful movement\, and more people are taking part than ever before. \n\n \n\n"We're happy take part in Small Business Saturday again this season. Last year\, there was a lot of great energy throughout the town and business doors were wide open\, ready to greet new and familiar faces\," says Mirinda Rothrock\, President of the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce. \n\n\n\nThe greater Decatur business community has been listed as a Neighborhood Champion by American Express  for the national event. The Neighborhood Champion program was created to help inspire communities to participate in the day and support local Small Business Saturday celebrations throughout the country. To become part of the program\, prospective Neighborhood Champions were required to share their plans to bring together at least 10 businesses in their community to recognize the day and commit to serve as ambassadors\, encouraging friends and family to shop small. \n\n\n\nHelp make a lasting impact by "shopping small" in the place you call home on Small Business Saturday.
