Located in the center of campus, the University Commons is a transformational building designed to create new connections and facilitate new interactions for Millikin students, faculty, staff, alumni, and our larger community. The University Commons is the new front door to campus which blends together the Staley Library and student center functions into one central location.
The University Commons is a space for research, innovation, leadership, and application. Because some of the most important education occurs outside the classroom, it’s not only a place for academic resources and activity, but also for enhancing student experiences
Millikin University officially broke ground on the new University Commons during a ceremony held on Nov. 6, 2015. Construction on the facility began in early 2016.
With the exception of Shilling Hall, an original Millikin structure erected in 1902, the new University Commons, an 87,000 square foot building, is the largest building project in university history.
The new University Commons is the largest of three building projects included within Millikin University's $85 million "Transform MU" capital campaign.
