Director of International Recruitment

The Director of International Recruitment is a fulltime position in the Center of International Education. Reporting directly to the Dean of International Education, the Director will have the primary responsibility to recruit international students from around the world to enroll in Millikin’s various degree and non-degree academic programs. The Director will implement strategic enrollment plans using best practices to achieve international recruitment goals. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: 

 

  1. Recruit admissible international students for degree-seeking or non-degree seeking academic programs including undergraduate programs, English Language programs, graduate programs, and customized programs. Recruitment will involve international travel.
  2. Manage the recruitment process for international students by contacting prospective students, answering questions, collecting required documents, reviewing applications and notifying students of admission decisions.
  3. Communicate effectively and consistently with prospective and admitted students and keep a log of communications and recruitment activities.
  4. Plan, organize and execute necessary and frequent travel needed to recruit international students. 
  5. Collaborate with Marketing to develop and oversee marketing initiatives to attract international students.
  6. Manage recruitment partnerships with agents.
  7. Develop a data-driven international recruitment plan to expand and diversify Millikin’s global reach.
  8. Assist in the development of targeted marketing materials. 
  9. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES   This position does not have supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.    

 

QUALIFICATIONS   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to succeed in a result-driven professional organization. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision and facilitate teamwork. Highly organized, with the ability to plan, execute and multitask to meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience within International Recruitment and Admissions at a US college or university.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with non-English speakers and individuals with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • International travel experience related to student recruitment and partnership-building.
  • Proficient computer skills including presentation development and social media skills.
  • Understanding of regulations pertaining to F-1 student visas.
  • Ability to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) as outlined by DHS.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Four or more years of experience within International Recruitment and Admissions at a US college or university
  • Knowledge of international higher education systems
  • Experience in recruitment of sponsored students.
  • Experience in working with agents and partner institutions.
  • Knowledge of trends in international student recruitment and emerging student markets
  • Fluency in a second language
