Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily water utility operations and AMI/work order systems
- Serve as “Operator in Responsible Charge” per Illinois EPA
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Lead water distribution & metering staff; hire, train, and evaluate team
- Recommend infrastructure improvements and capital projects
- Administer consultant contracts and coordinate with treatment facilities
- Prepare and monitor division budget; manage procurement and inventory
- Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in civil/sanitary engineering, public administration, or related field
- Illinois Class “D” Water Operator’s license (Class “C” preferred; D obtainable within 1 year)
- 5+ years supervisory experience; 7+ years water distribution operations
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License
- Water distribution regulations, mains, and construction standards
- Occupational safety (underground utilities, confined spaces)
- Microsoft Office, GIS, AMI, and proprietary software
- Budgeting, technical research, and team leadership
- Stakeholder engagement and excellent communication
