Description
Raymond Poe, Director for the Illinois Department of Agriculture, will be the featured speaker at the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce Ag Cafe on Thursday, January 21, 2016. Enjoy lunch catered by the Beach House at the James Randall Research Center Auditorium. Reservations are required by January 19th.
Raymond Poe is proud to serve as the next director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Agriculture has always been a part of Raymond’s life. He is a third generation grain farmer from Sangamon County. Farming remains a big part of the Poe family legacy, as the next generation now farms in Sangamon County.
Beyond the field, Raymond has served as president of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau and Lincoln Land Farm Supply. He also spent 20 years in the General Assembly where he represented the 99th House District and served as a member of the House Agriculture and Conservation committee.
Raymond Poe has received several prestigious awards, honors and certificates of appreciation over the years. Among the accolades he is most proud of is the Friend of Agriculture award given to him by the Illinois Farm Bureau.
Raymond and his wife Carol reside in Sangamon County. They have three children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
