Downtown Christmas Walk

The tradition lives on! The downtown Decatur Christmas Walk takes place Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Horse and carriage rides will transport shoppers to Christmases past, as roving carolers heighten the holiday atmosphere. Downtown Decatur will be decked out in its holiday finest and shopkeepers will have holiday refreshments lined up to welcome visitors to this annual event. The Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council stepped in for City Centre Decatur to ensure the continuation of this treasured tradition as well as the lighting of downtown and Santa's presence in Central Park. To further the festive spirit of the season, the Chamber has organized a Storefront Holiday Decorating Contest for all Chamber members. Sponsored by Brinkoetter and Associates, the contest will award the first place winner with $100 in Metro Money and a traveling Golden Wreath. Second and third place winners will receive $50 and $25 in Metro Money, respectively. Storefront holiday decorating forms are due November 30th, and can be picked up at the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce or downloaded at www.decaturchamber.com . Winners will be announced at the December 2nd Chamber Business Breakfast.
