Description
Greater Decatur Chamber members have the opportunity to learn more about the newly revamped MyTax Illinois system, before it launches, directly from Jeff Mays, Director of the Illinois Department Employment Security (IDES). Join us for this important employer-update lunch program from 11:15 AM - 1:00 PM Thursday, August 10, 2017. Doors open at 11:15 AM and a buffet lunch will be served starting at 11:30 AM. The program with Mr. Mays starts at 11:55 AM. Advanced registration is required by Monday, August 7, 2017.
MyTax Illinois is the secure website used by Illinois employers and individual taxpayers to electronically file and pay more than 200 taxes and fees. Starting September 2017, employers will be able to use MyTax Illinois for their unemployment insurance monthly wage reporting, quarterly unemployment insurance report filing, and the contribution payment process.
Mr. Mays will describe how bringing the unemployment insurance process into MyTax Illinois simplifies the tax experience for both new and existing Illinois employers. He will also provide an update on IDES goals:
- Revamp Unemployment Insurance (UI) internet and phone customer services and work towards streamlining the overall claims system;
- Improve the quality of internal processes to increase user-ability while reducing costs to tax-payers;
- Implement the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) to establish a unified planning process across core workforce programs and to better align and leverage various agencies’ federal funding streams;
- Solidify the agency’s position as the go-to resource for wage, employer and workforce participation information based on customer-driven geographies;
- Expand the agency’s automated integrity system to further reduce waste, fraud and UI abuse.
IDES will continue to provide job services and career education to help build a stronger workforce, to underscore the benefits of the agency’s extensive wage and workforce-participation-rate database, and “do a lot of good for a lot of people.”
Some of the new MyTax Illinois benefits that you can expect to see will include the ability to:
- register your new business with IDES and the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) in one secure location,
- eliminate the time you now spend completing and mailing paper reports by filing your wage reports and paying your unemployment contributions electronically,
- make changes to your account information quickly and easily,
- get immediate online confirmation that reports and payments have been received and processed timely, and
- view IDES correspondence, account balances and other documents through a secure message center.
NOTE:
If you would like to establish your MyTax Illinois account prior to the September 2017 cutover, please contact the IDOR Central Registration staff at 1-217-785-3707 or please visit the MyTax Illinois website for assistance. If you already have a MyTax Illinois account, starting in September 2017, you will have access to your unemployment insurance account.
Please feel free to share the attached letter with your tax preparer.
