General Functions:

The Lead Teller will be responsible for the supervision of the teller area(s). Will provide excellent member service by performing accurate transactions, listening, educating, and identifying members' needs. Will share all products/services meeting those needs to best serve the member and help the credit union prosper. Will solve problems and help with complex work-related matters. Will guide and advise tellers in the efficient handling of member needs. 

The Lead Teller position will require attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, teamwork and a basic understanding of navigating multiple computer programs and the internet. The Lead Teller must always maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of service.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Reflects the credit union's core values in their daily activities and at any time they represent the credit union.

2) Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional and timely manner, providing

prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.

3) Monitor teller performance of daily responsibilities. 

4) Assist in correcting teller errors.

5) Asist in training new tellers.

6) Monitor teller over/shorts and follow discipline guidelines. 

7) Monitor dress code with tellers.

8) Complete weekly schedules with tellers.

9) Assist with teller drawer audits. 

10) Disburses money from vault to tellers as needed. 

11) Monitor teller achievements of monthly sales goals and coach when necessary. 

12) Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer records.

13) Cash share drafts/checks and process withdrawals; pay out money after verification of signatures and

member balances.

14) Assist with mail or email transactions, when available.

15) Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are

handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related polices

and procedures, rules and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.

16) Promote, explain, and cross-serve other credit union services such as consumer and mortgage loans, IRAs,

certificates, safe deposit boxes, debit and credit cards, on-line banking, traveler’s checks, and money

orders.

17) Receive mortgage, consumer loan, and other payments, and ensure the payments match balances due.

18) Enter payments into computer. Generate member receipts.

19) Place hold on accounts for uncollected funds.

20) Count, check, and package coins and currency.

21) Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totaled amounts to computer-generated proof

sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary.

22) Ensure that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.

23) Report malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used at the teller station.

24) Check night depository and record proper information according to credit union procedures.

25) Able to assist and backup duties and responsibilities of more senior positions as needed.

26) Maintains work area in an orderly manner.

28) Must be able to meet physical requirements: prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer or standing and completing training activities; must be able to lift 30 pounds at times. 

29) Full-Time Teller is expected to work 40 hours per week. Part-Time Teller with benefits is expected to work approximately 30-39 hours per week. Part-Time Teller without benefits is expected to work 25-29 hours per week. 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Availability during branch hours and to work at alternate Branch locations if/when assigned.
  • At least one year of teller or management experience required. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of bookkeeping is preferred.   

 

 

PAY INFORMATION

 

$18.50 to $18.86 per hour
