The Executive Director of The Good Samaritan Inn reports to the Board of Directors and strategically and
culturally drives the organization by:
● Creating a culture of respect, efficiency, compassion, and fun - making it a great place to work!
● Committing to community development and collaboration as the “face” of the organization
● Ensuring fiscal responsibility and respect for data
● Advancing The Good Samaritan Inn’s mission through quality programming and compassionate service

Position Description:

OPERATIONS - 35%
● Manage Employees
○ Weekly 1:1 meetings and Bi-Weekly Management Meetings
○ Train, coach, evaluate, and support Employees
○ Take lead on final HR decisions including hiring and discipline

● Planning & Organization:
○ Create annual schedule of activities
○ Assure proper maintenance of building and equipment
○ Guide logistics of programming and events
○ Work collaboratively to create and enforce policies
○ Create efficiencies through organized data collection, reporting, and communication tools

● Support programming by:
○ Cultivating volunteer & patron relations and handling any concerns
○ Directly serving in programs as-needed

FUNDRAISING & GRANTS- 35%
● Create and execute a strategic fundraising plan for both annual and major gifts
● Facilitate top-level decisions for income-generating programs and events
● Grant research, acquisition, and management
● Cultivate relationships with current and potential donors

MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS - 15%
● Drive a cohesive brand for Good Samaritan Inn through social media, marketing materials, and website
● Serve as “face” of the organization, representing organizational values and ideals
● Engage the community through public speaking and media relations

FINANCES & REPORTING - 10%
● With support of the Finance and Marketing Manager and Board Finance & Policy Committee:
○ Create and oversee annual budget and ensure fiscal responsibility
○ Support annual audit
○ Make recommendations for financial investments

BOARD OF DIRECTOR RELATIONS & VISION - 5%
● Drive the vision of the organization alongside Board of Directors
● Work with the Board Chair and Committee Chairs to further Board impact including:
○ Creating agendas, preparing meeting documents, and attending meetings
○ Assisting in facilitating an annual Board Retreat
○ Seeking Board approval as appropriate for all major fiscal, scope, or mission-based decisions
○ Supporting board-led fundraising

● Attend monthly board and (as-needed) committee meetings

Required Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s Degree in business, administration, marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience
● Valid driver’s license
● 5 years or more experience in management or commensurate education
● 2 or more years in budget management or commensurate education
● Demonstrated mission-focused leadership
● Ability to utilize or learn new technologies and programs including Google docs, Microsoft Office, and
donor and financial management systems
● Strong data management and communication skills
● Work efficiently and effectively both independently and as a team member
● Give and take directions in English
● Ability to obtain Food Manager’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

● Master’s Degree in business, administration, marketing, or related field
● Experience or Knowledge in:
o Donor and financial management systems
o Creating marketing materials and website management
o Event management
o Grant writing and fulfillment
o Directing volunteers
o Agriculture and food/service industries
o Donor relations
o Working with or on a Board of Directors

Preferred Licenses/Certifications:
● Must get Food Manager’s License within 3 months after hire.

Salary & Benefits:
● Employer- paid vision, dental, and life Insurance; Generous time-off policy; YMCA and Sams Club

● Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000 based on education and experience
