What You Will Do:
The Caterpillar Leaders for Global Operations Program is designed to provide experienced professionals with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience that enables them to make a real-world impact. MIT LGO graduates who join Caterpillar, a proud LGO partner company, will have the opportunity to complete a multi-phase program that includes:

Assignment Details
Options for the first rotational assignment include:
Manufacturing Project Engineer
Opportunity to support a facility transformation initiative in the execution and replication of a portfolio of projects at the Decatur, Illinois facility. The Decatur production facility is the largest Caterpillar production facility in North America. The facility builds prime product and aftermarket parts for Large Mining Trucks, Off Highway Trucks, Wheel Tractor Scrapers, Large Wheel Loaders and 24 Motor Graders within the mining segment of Caterpillar.
The top candidate will be comfortable working in a challenging environment with a passion for data analytics and how it drives change within a LEAN manufacturing environment. Experience with industry benchmarks to develop recommendations into a multi-generational project plan to improve the performance of the facility will be advantageous. Effective communication skills are essential to motivate a cross-functional team to support and execute a strategic vision.
Supply Chain Project Manager
This position will lead capital deployment, development of the technology roadmap, and extended value chain optimization for the Decatur Supply Chain and Logistics functions. Key areas of focus include continuous improvement within the ordering, receipt, storage and distributions activities. Data analytics and deployment of automation are a significant opportunity to streamline and optimize the day-to-day operations, as well as the defining of a technology roadmap to support a holistic facility ecosystem.
Previous experience in a fast paced and challenging environment with a passion for process improvement, data analytics and how it drives change within a LEAN manufacturing environment is required. Qualified candidates will also have a working knowledge of key supply chain functions from order to delivery, strong problem-solving mindset and highly collaborative work style to manage projects across functional areas.
Value Chain Designer
Opportunity for a program lead of a cross functional team to design and implement a highly modular value chain to produce the next generation of 777 Off-Highway Trucks or Ultra Class Large Mining Trucks at the Decatur facility. Assignment includes working across the enterprise to determine component sourcing, implement automation, in process validation, and merge in transit for machine modules.
This strategic position will strongly benefit from previous experience in manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and/or procurement roles. Qualified candidates require a knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of root cause analysis (RCA) and process mapping and the ability to carry out the documentation of current and proposed manufacturing processes to identify and make improvements. Project management and change management experience, as well as the ability to influence and communicate at different levels across the organization will contribute to the success of this position.
Continuous Process Improvement Black Belt
The Hydraulic Mining Shovel product group at the Tucson Mining Center has an opportunity for a Continuous Process Improvement Black Belt. This position will lead projects focused on quality defects on products in the field and work across the organization to identify root cause and identify corrective solutions.
Top candidates will have a knowledge of or experience with Six Sigma methodologies and strong analytical skills to use data to solve problems. Strong collaboration and communication skills, as well as proactive, problem-solving skills are essential to the success of the candidate.
