Summary
As a Family Support Specialist at the Macon County Health Department, you will play a vital role in providing support and resources to families in need. This position is essential in our mission to promote health and wellness within the community, ensuring that families have access to necessary services and support systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and resources to families facing challenges related to health and well-being.
- Conduct assessments to identify family needs and develop tailored support plans.
- Facilitate access to community resources, including healthcare, childcare, and educational services.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address family issues effectively.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies when necessary to ensure family safety.
- Educate families on available programs and services that promote healthy practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of family interactions and progress reports.
- Advocate for families within the community to enhance their access to necessary services.
- Key duties include conducting regular home visits to build relationships, deliver educational materials, and monitor child development; assisting families in connecting with community resources and healthcare services; and maintaining detailed records and reports. Some positions may also include facilitating group activities and assisting with program recruitment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in social work or family support services.
- Strong conflict management skills to navigate challenging situations effectively.
- Proficient in crisis intervention techniques with a focus on family dynamics.
- Knowledge of child protective services and child welfare policies is essential.
- Experience working with children and understanding their developmental needs.
- Excellent communication skills for effective engagement with families and community partners.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
