Assistant Professor of English - Creative Writing

Posted: 05/05/2024

Millikin University’s English Department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor of creative writing to teach courses for our English major and innovative general education writing program, beginning August 2024.

Candidates will teach four English courses per semester. The teaching load will include a combination of first-year writing, writing in the disciplines, creative writing, literature, and/or Honors seminar courses, depending on the applicant’s expertise and departmental needs. In addition to teaching, faculty will be expected to advise and mentor creative writing majors; publish scholarly and/or creative work; and engage in university service.

A PhD in creative writing or a closely related field is required for this tenure-track position. Strong preference will be given to candidates who specialize in prose (fiction, non-fiction, or hybrid forms), have experience teaching first-year writing courses, and have a clear record of teaching excellence. We will prioritize additional expertise in publishing studies, digital storytelling, and/or multicultural or underrepresented literatures.
