Production Coordinator - Decatur, IL
This is a full time, exempt position.
The Production Coordinator has influence on the safe, efficient and sustainable operation within the Isolate department of the Decatur West Plant. The focus of this position is to improve the performance of their process while using the tools provided by the ADM Performance Excellence process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist plant personnel (operators, technicians, supervisors) with the strategies to collect, analyze and interpret relevant data to develop a loss landscape for the purpose of prioritizing resources and focus.
- Partner with department leadership to determine short, medium and long term plans to mitigate and eliminate the causes of losses in all aspects of their process.
- Continuously apply Performance Excellence tools in efforts to contribute to the continuous improvement and readiness of the West plant.
- Assist with the development and execution of plans to bring colleague skills to a level of proficiency that translates into improved process operation and results.
- Support efforts to implement technology and practices to reduce contamination, increase efficiency and yield and increase utilization of idle equipment.
- Provide training, mentoring, and transfer knowledge to colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Take over hourly colleague scheduling
- Provide feedback to colleagues regarding effective operations and performance
- Understand their role in food safety and quality systems, is actively engaged in plant and food safety efforts, and ensures conformance to good manufacturing practices
- Support the department as one of three backup operations champions
- Audit the process daily for accountability with PE activities and have discussions with operators and supervisors
- Fill in as needed for department coverage on nights/weekends/holidays.
- Rotate departments as needed to build well-rounded knowledge of the facility.
- Minimum of 3 years of production and supervisory experience or equivalent.
- Ability to work the assigned shift.
- Timely and consistent self-starter with ability to handle deadlines while prioritizing multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated compliance and leadership in plant Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality programs.
- Excellent communication skills – both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.
- Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills are vital to effectively interact with multiple employees, management personnel, and other stakeholders. Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict; motivating, instructing, and training personnel in a fair, honest, and direct way.
- Ability to utilize independent judgment to solve problems, have excellent organizational skills, and strive for continuous improvement.
- Technical aptitude in math, chemistry, and chemical processes.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required for training.
- Basic computer knowledge (Email, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality)
- Ensure safety, quality, and environmental compliance at all times through thorough understanding of ADM and Plant policies and practices, and routine cross-department auditing.
- Proactively support, lead, and participate in the company safety programs.
- Is the Incident Command PIC (Person In Charge) on shift and is responsible for conducting monthly activities and drills.
- Ensures that incidents which occur on their shift have investigations that are done in a timely manner and adequately reported.
- Ensures shift employee safety training is completed in a timely manner.
- Maintains an understanding and proactively addresses quality issues throughout the plant.
- Knowledgeable and responsible for environmental compliance and decisions on reportable issues.
- Develops employees to focus on safety behaviors of themselves and their fellow employees.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and practices and recommends changes and/or improvements as needed.
- Mentors and helps train new Shift Supervisors.
- Provides input on hourly shift personnel to Shift Supervisors and provides feedback to Department Superintendents regarding the performance of the Shift Supervisors.
- Works with the Shift Supervisors to maintain discipline within shift and discuss the need for appropriate disciplinary action with the Department Superintendent and Human Resources Manager.
- Develops and maintains a detailed understanding of plant-wide operations and is responsible for decision making in all areas of the operation in the absence of day shift management.
- Make vital contacts with safety, quality, environmental, and management where appropriate.
- Coordinates all maintenance resources in the absence of day shift maintenance management. Strives to adhere to the schedule to maximize efficiency, while addressing any immediate plant operational needs.
- Acts as the main contact for all security issues in the absence of day shift management.
- Ensures completion of requests and instruction in individual department communications.
- Work on special projects as assigned by the Plant Superintendent and assists Department Superintendents with project work.
ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
The pay range for this position is expected to be between:
$70,400.00 - $131,600.00
Salaried Incentive Plan
The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus
